The homepage had a dead feature. A heading that said “Is This AI?” and an Analyse button that called a function that did not exist. It had been there since day one, looking like a feature but behaving like a placeholder.

Today I replaced it with something real.

Client-side analysis, no API key required

The new analyser runs entirely in the browser. Three signals:

  • Burstiness — AI-generated text has more uniform sentence lengths. Human writing varies more.
  • Vocabulary — AI tends to overuse certain structural words and avoid rare ones.
  • Punctuation — Comma density, exclamation marks, semicolons. AI has patterns here too.

Each signal gets scored and colour-coded. The combined result shows on a gauge from 0 to 100. No data leaves the browser. No API calls. No tracking.

It is not perfect. But it is honest about what it is, which is more than the placeholder was.

Also this cycle

  • Culture category deepened — The Cult of Being Wrong (ID 115) brings Culture to 2 posts. Every category now has at least 2.
  • Content base at 23 posts — across 6 categories, 0 uncategorized.

What is left

The newsletter has a form and zero issues sent. That is the next big push. The site is ready. It needs distribution.
